El Jimador in Rocky Mount

My wife and I really enjoyed our visit here tonight. It was very busy but we only had to wait about 3-4 minutes to be seated. Then we ordered and for our food pretty quickly too. The food was wonderful and the service was fantastic as well. Top notch Mexican Restaurant.

The service was really great but the food was not as expected. I'm aware Fish Tacos it's not a Mexican staple but I still love them. I did as I usually do when I see fish tacos on the menu and ordered the dish. The fact that the 3 tacos came with french fries should have been an indicator. The fish was basically Gordon's fish fillets from the local grocery store. Aside from that the rest of my families meals were great and delicious.

The staff are genuinely interested in making sure you have a good experience. Good food!

Stopped here traveling along I64 and we were hungry. The quality of the food was variable but service was terrific. At night the entrance isn't obvious. It is right behind Dunkin Donuts a large restaurant and maybe the construction makes it harder to see. Popular place, local crowd. Chips and salsa and drinks came immediately. Salsa was a bit watery and without spice except cilantro but we were hungry and thirsty and they tended immediately to us. My husband liked his fajitas and they brought him enough tortillas for the contents. I got a combo plate that was lacking in flavor and soggy except for taco shell (beef on taco was very bland). Another table requested some different pepper sauce and that would have helped. The service made up for the food flavoring, super welcoming and responsive and friendly, helped us with our holiday spirit.

Great food and service. In a nutshell, it's a little more expensive and classier than the typical Mexican restaurant, but totally worth it.

I was eager to finally try this restaurant for the first time, as I've tried the other Mexican restaurants nearby in the short time I'velived in Rocky Mount. I ordered the Fish Tacos and they turned out great. However, when I received the check it was $13.99 ($14.93 with tax). Apparently when I was seated I was given an old menu where it was listed as $9 and did not have a number identification next to it. I explained how I was misinformed and wronged to the waiter, another employee and finally the manager. All of which said "sorry, that's the price". Obviously they weren't sorry for the mistake and I was reluctantly charged the "new" price. Never going back again.

Always get good service and the food is really good. We quit going to two other Mexican restaurants because food and service both had become not so good. The only thing at El Jimador that would be great is the last 2 times the salsa didn’t taste the same, not as fresh tasting please change it back. This is a place to go!

This out of the way restaurant is delightful. Delicious food brought to the table piping hot and tableside guacamole. Special requests are no problem. Our waitress was sensational. Our water glasses were filled we never ran out of salsa and quick, attentive service. This is definitely going to get a repeat visit from us!

The place itself is Beautiful the hospitality was very pleasing our waiter was excellent. Most all the food was a plenty & very delicious I was more than satisfied 🙂🙂👌👌I would recommend to other people

Had the chicken,beef ,and shrimp fajitas. Everything tasted fresh and cooked perfectly, nice quiet atmosphere. Wasn't very crowded when I was there tho. Highly suggest this place.my experience was great.

Food was great, service was attentive but sometimes absentminded (needed to ask several times for some things for the table), but we were a large party. Food gets an A for taste from me, and the staff were all very friendly! Would reccomend.

Food was good. I ordered the Tacos Bravos con Carne, the chorizo was good, horchata was good, wait staff was solid.

Eat There every other week. Steak fajits are Awesome and chips and salsa and the white sauce is too. Everything is Great There. Knocks El Tapatio in Rocky Mount to the curb.

I’ve been to many Mexican restaurants and they’re either a hit or miss. This one was an absolute hit as the staff here are sincere about the customers needs and the food is well prepared and tasteful in every way you’d expect. They will make guacamole in front of you fresh! The chips and salsa are better then most places and you get that yummy white sauce. I came and ordered the fajitas. The portion was more than I could handle and the taste was spot on. Will definitely come back again.

I have been going to El Jimador for over two years; the food and service are consistently excellent.Great Margaritas and excellent guacamole, freshly made table side. The food has always been expertly prepared and served.The prices are very fair and the portions abundant.I recently introduced friends to this wonderful place and they all raved about the service and quality of the food.Congratulations to the entire staff for consistently delivering great quality and very authentic Mexican food.Gracias!!!

Food was great, however where we sat there was an odor that smelt like the bathroom. Great service, waitress was amazing.

Our favorite so far in Rocky Mount. El Tap in Wilson still our favorite. Very good food, prompt service, a winner. Went here based on Google rating, we were not disappointed.

Very good food and atmosphere. Only got refills one time and never got our fried ice cream that we asked for so we just paid and left. Other than that the food portion is good for the price!

Decent Mexican restaurant. The menu is large. The do lunch specials on the weekends as well. Went on a Sunday afternoon and they were busy. Service was a little slow but that is the only complaint. Food was all correct and hot. The salsa, chips, and cheese dip were also good.

This was quite a nice experience. The homemade guacamole was the finest I have ever had in a restaurant. The meal was delicious and the chips were worth the calories. Hot and tasty. Salsa was delicious.

We're from out of town & First time visit to El Jimador. The service was fast & professional. Our food was cooked to order and served hot. The Fresh Guacamole could have used a little more salt but otherwise VERY good. Generous portion size meals with very reasonable prices made all the difference. When we travel that way again , we'll be sure to stop by.

The food and atmosphere was great! This was our second time dining out at El Jimador and the service was just as good as the first time! My choice this time was the enchiladas del norte and my wife got the shrimp street tacos! I have to say the shrimp tacos was the better choice lots of flavor!

Real, authentic, food and reasonable prices. Large portions, but some beef dishes not seasoned quite enough for me. Overall, I will recommend.

Excellent food! They easily accommodated my questions so I could avoid my food allergies. Bathrooms were very clean. Service was fast & friendly.

Always delicious. Normally they're very quick with food/drinks/etc but tonight they struggled a little. Likely due to a bunch of people coming in at once, so we were fine waiting. Otherwise never a problem here! Staff is very friendly, and they don't talk over your kids like some do when they try to order for themselves (parents...I know y'all know what I'm talking about lol).
